About Rudy's Exotic Mushrooms & Produce
Our Story
In 1994, I set out on a mission to bring exotic mushrooms to restaurants in Richmond, VA from my Brother’s farm near my hometown in Kennett Square PA, (mushroom capital of the world). The timing was just right and many chefs were excited to work with new varieties of exotic mushrooms. With the help of many friends throughout the years, and an amazing community of supportive chefs and owners, Rudy’s has now been running the streets of Richmond every week for the last 30 years serving restaurants, small markets, schools, and retirement communities. As our customers grew so did our offerings according to their needs. We jumped in and started getting involved in moving local VA produce and now have a steady offering of local produce of every kind when they are in season.
Our Products
We are proud to deliver to Richmond our ever-growing offerings of beautiful fresh fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms. Our mushrooms have always come to us from Kennett Square PA, and some occasional VA oysters and shiitakes. Our produce is sourced as close to home as possible throughout the year working with several regional distributors. Some local farms we work with: Sion House, Kirby Farms, Ed Smith, Cabbage Hill, Greenswell Greens, Twin Oaks Tofu, Authenticity Eggs, Rosa’s Garden, etc. We strive to always have the best service and quality - and if we fall short, we always replace or extend credit when needed.
Our Service
We work hard everyday to offer the best service in this town. We are big enough to source great quality produce at ompetitive rates, but small enough to know each of 0ur customers’ needs. We communicate, listen and dial in to your unique produce needs, desired delivery times, back-of-house etiquette, and receiving payment. We deliver Mon-Sat 6 days a week.
